First time posting, need support/advice/positivity

Been there, sort of still am. It gets worse, and worse, and worse, if you can imagine that’s even possible. There isn’t much positivity to give in these situations we’re in, mainly support of shared experiences. Ending the relationship will eventually bring peace on the other side of the hill.

I'm not a expert on either relationships or toxic family dynamics, though i know that they bleed into the relationship quite a lot. The fact her own brothers said, " She's always been difficult." I would have told them off for saying that. I also think that's why your spouse may be drinking. I don't know her at all but i'm in the same boat with my family. They think if they ignore a disease, it will just go away and she's just being difficult. I think she is lucky to have you actually care about her condition. She shouldn't be drinking at all it messes with the medication and exacerbates symptoms. As long as she's willing to work with you. Your therapist is right she is suffering but drinking and ignoring how this is affecting you is her choice. Maybe just have a talk? I know you tried this already but maybe tell her how you feel too and that your worried.

I agree. I did get upset when they said that. To be honest I’m not sure how open she is with her family about her diagnosis/current situation. I’m always up for communication, and try to initiate it more and more but she gets very defensive immediately. Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it
