20” bass drums are special order?

I’m in the market for a new gigging kit. In Australia, it seems any standard drum kit with a 20” bass drum is a special order. Seems they are just not popular. And unmanly as well, according to the flack I got on a Pearl forum. I do a lot of gigs and the 20” is fine for 95% of them and easy to lug. I save the 22” for large gigs. I spoke with the nice people who import Pearl and they have no plans to import even one 20” Reference One kit. Custom order for $8K. Gretsch Brooklyns and Renowns the same unless it’s a bop kit. Only Yamaha in the Tour Custom line. And being Australia, there is nowhere to try these kits either. Nice place to live, shit place for equipment. Rant over. Thanks for letting me rant.
