How long did it take to potty train your puppy/dog?
Hello, I am new to puppy life, but not new to owning a dog. I've had a 10 year old miniature schnauzer for a little over a year now and when my fiance and I took her in, she was fully potty trained. We may have had 2 accidents the week we got her, as she was accustomed to being an outside dog, but she was still fully trained. Needless to say, I've never trained a dog before.
Last week, after many discussions and looking everywhere, we decided to get a puppy. My dream breed ❤️ a Blue Heeler. I've wanted one for years, and one became available near us. She's 3 months old and still needs help getting fully potty trained. The previous owners had started her training, but with small children and a completely different lifestyle than what she would need, they decided to rehome her so she would get the attention and love and everything she needs. Very mature of them to recognize that and make a good descion, so kudos to them.
I am very aware that potty training her, like any puppy, is gonna take time and she won't be potty outside like a good girl overnight. How long did you guys take to get your puppy fully potty trained? I've asked around at work and most have had their dogs for so many years they can't remember. Ive heard weeks, months, and some surprising were told their dog wasn't potty trained when they got them, but turns out they did just fine. Any breeds you know of that take forever? Any that you'd say are the easiest to train? I wanna hear it!
