Rule #1: “We welcome challenges, criticism & debate”

The first rule of this sub is “we welcome challenges, criticism & debate.” The welcome message’s first sentence is “Welcome to the discourse!” And yet the one sidedness of this subreddit is so apparent that it is very hard to have any true discourse. Any post that is pro-Trump is upvoted and any post that is the opposite is downvoted.

I made a thread yesterday that just wanted to make an attempt to see the situation from both sides. The thread may have appeared anti-Trump at first glance, but it wasn’t, it was just attempting to show that maybe both sides are doing the same thing. The thread and the replies that seemed to agree were instantly downvoted with no discussion or attempt to explain why the points being made were wrong. The one commenter who made an attempt to disagree stated he wants to bring a wrecking ball to the establishment because it’s “rotten globalist dog sh*t” and he was instantly upvoted.

I feel that the subreddit could create more interesting discourse and be of more value to the people who visit if we embraced more the first rule of this sub: “We welcome challenges, criticism & debate.”
