Big/Little Wigs vs DBM, whats the difference / reason to pick one over the other

Relatively new and getting to the point where i'm trying timewalking dungeons and some regular ones to get a feel and every streamer I see uses one or the other of these but there doesn't seem to be a general consensus.

One of them (DBM I think?) seems to talk to you while the other one seems to make all kinds of random sound effect noises like biting and whistles to indicate things but I've no clue what means what.

Is that the only meaningful difference or reason to pick one over the other? Any advice appreciated as I'm thoroughly lost
