Best way to get back on track? (ex-Webflow professional dev)
Hi everyone,
In 2020-2021 I got deep into Webflow and was a really good developer, getting into all sorts of animations, API integrations, customizations with JS, deep CMS customization, and managing GTM and GA4.
Since end of 2021 I had to change because of a new job and was far away from any web development work (job was more in data analytics).
Now I'm back, and noticed the environment has changed a lot since then, hence would appreciate your input in order to get back on track as quick as possible.
1- What's a good course that can provide an overview on current webflow interface as well as current Webflow (as well as CMS and SEO) development and optimization best practices?
2- When it comes to client-first, seems there are two major approachs - finsweet and timothy ricks. Which of these two is usually more requested by clients?
3- I need to fully brush up on JS - what's a good program I can quickly go through (beginner to advanced). Last time I found Web Dev Simplified to be decent, not sure if that still stands. Also, is Typescript used in webflow development nowadays, or is it mostly vanilla JS?
4- Same with CSS - last time I found Kevin Powell's course to be really good and comprehensive, and I know there's been a lot of developments in CSS - what would be best route to quickly brush up on the basics, and get to grasp on the latest?
5- What are the key plugins for Webflow to be aware of? Back then it was memberstack, Jetboost plugins, Finsweet plugins, and Timothy Ricks' stuff. Is that still the same or are there more to consider (I came across mentions of Relume a few times - not sure how widespread its usage is).
6- What's the best way nowadays to manage JS custom code in Webflow (place to easily edit and host JS files, and to link to them within Webflow)?
7- It seems that React has a role to play in Webflow (something about DevLink) - not sure what's at play here but is it worth learning/exploring? I never really learned react.
8- I used to work only on webdev, but mnore and more clients seem to want the full suite of design and webdev - what's a good route to improve my design skills.
9- Webflow attempted to go the webapp development route but I don't think it got far. When it comes to clients that need a webapp - what's your go-to alternative?
For GA4 and GTM, analytics mania is my go to, so I think I should be fine.
Thanks!
