Good activities for making friends in DC?

I’ve been in the DC area for awhile and as it goes in this city, my closest friends have moved back to their home states so I’m looking to refresh my friend group. What are some good group activities for making new friends? I like recreational sports, like axe throwing and archery - would be open to trying something new if there’s a good social group - and artsy things, like seeing shows & museums, painting, pottery, etc. I’ve taken a few classes here and there but so far have found that people sign up with their existing friends, rather than go to make new friends. That might be because I’ve tried in the suburbs so far. If you have a recommendation for a specific place, I’ll go into DC proper. Thanks!
