Effect of remote investment on standard of living in colonies

Do you guys think that allowing owners of buildings to live out of the state will greatly increase standard of living in core states while reducing them in colonies? It seems like the system will allow for money to be siphoned back to non colonial territories which could impact standard of living in a material way. Also this hopefully solves the problem of colonies having similar if not higher standards of living than actual states.
