Telling kids about veganism
In need of some advice.
I recently went vegan and have watched Okja with my kids (10 and 12). We talked about it after and I explained that the way animals are killed in the real world is actually much worse than in the movie. Their reaction was very underwhelming.
I guess my mistake was trying to talk to my kids about a topic they have zero interest in. It's just frustrating.
I feel like if I had them watch Earthlings they might actually get it and want to stop eating animal products, but I think that's going to be a little much for them right now.
My youngest told me she thinks I'm trying to force her to be vegan. I don't want her to think that at all. So I'm not going to bring it up for now, and maybe at some point she will ask more about it. She's at the age where she wants to do everything on her own and doesn't want to listen to advice. It's a fun time.
I guess I'm just wondering if you didn't raise your kids to be vegan, how have you talked to them about it? And were they receptive?
