Crunchy Fuel

Hey all,
I hate to be that guy but I prefer to eat/drink as natural a product as I can. I'm training for my first ultra and consuming a lot of content and so much of what I'm seeing people fuel with are not things I'd prefer to put in my body. I'm pretty set on hydration but I'm curious about what people would recommend for clean carbs and sugar. I'm considering just straight honey but I assume I also need some more complex carbs and just high caloric fuel.
