How do you guys interpret the ending of "It Almost Worked"?
For me, I'm on the fence between two interpretations:
- The girl backs out of her suicide attempt, realizing things could "always be worse", and using this as motivation to find joy in her day, and subsequently, a reason to continue living.
- The girl saying "It could have been worse", and then killing herself, with the final "It almost worked" being a line on how she was trying to reason to herself why she shouldn't follow through with her suicide, as saying "things could always be worse" is a common phrase that I'm sure many of us have used before to make ourselves feel better about a shitty day/experience. However, this ends up being futile, as she already made up her mind (See her prior suicide attempt at the beginning of the song).
I could be completely off about my interpretations, I'm just wondering what your guys' opinion is!
