Question for moms whose one toddler learnt to talk fast and the other was speech delayed
Okay so I have a 19 month old. He says basic words like mama, dada, baba, yummy, wroom wroom, woof woof, kaka and lots of animal sounds. He also signs lots of words he cannot promounce yet. You can communicate with him, he answers if you ask him a yes or no question like „are you tired?”, „do you want to go outside?” or reacts to commands „find mommy’s hairbrush”, „charge mommy’s phone”,(he has his own power outlet with no electricity, no worries), „sit on the couch”, „jump”. He is super aware of his surroundings, like he puts on a glove if he wants to open the oven (and is super confused when we don’t let him despite the precautions taken lol), he can load and unload the washing machine and hang the laundry, helps unload the dishwasher if asked
But the speeeeeeech. I just watched a tiktok video of a mom whose 2 year old is already speaking difficult sentences. She said the key to success is no screen time, talk and sing a lot. We do all of these except I put on Ms Rachel for 2 minutes to change a poopy diaper. Otherwise poop is everywhere. But I don’t think it’s the reason his speech is delayed? It’s 10 minutes a day of Ms Rachel at most. Everyone is taking pride in how fast their children learnt to speak, and I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I literally do everything everyone is suggesting. He learns new words, but not super fast. I think he’s doing great and I love him so much, but man, the pressure.
Is it always the parent’s fault? Maybe you have two children and one learned to talk fast and the other took more time? Please share your experience
