Timberwolves lineups analysis
First of all I just want to answer some simple questions about the rotation and what I think Chris finch should go with moving forward.
IS THE STARTING LINEUP BAD?
Lets start off with the starting lineups that have played the most. According to nba.com R. Gobert - D. Russell - K. Towns - A. Edwards - J. McDaniels and slightly lower than that R. Gobert - K. Anderson - D. Russell - A. Edwards - J. McDaniels are the lineups with the most mins . Obviously the trade to send out Russell changes things as we would switch out those minutes with Mike Conley. Having said that the first lineup isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Even more surprising it seems like the clunky offense is more of an issue than defense. People were initially worried about the defense of two big mans but we have a defensive rating of 104.2 and an tragic offensive rating of 108.2. That's why a trade for Mike Conley made a lot of sense with Russell, Ant and Kat it was too many mouths to feeds. Not to mention the chemistry issues and the under utilizing of Rudy Gobert. With Mike Conley we got a team player. Even more exciting is that the more traditional lineup with Anderson at the four has a rating of 13! So the starting lineups is very good and it always been a strength of Chris finch. Just think back to last year when we had the best starting five !!!
WHATS GOING WRONG WITH THE ROTATION?
However I still don't like some of the things Chris finch is doing particularly with the bench. The worst thing to see is the three guard lineup this is more anecdotal because the mins are too small to draw concrete conclusions with evidence to support both sides. The three guard lineup is bad because we can not defend a nosebleed and while we score we concede more. The only player that I don't want to see in the rotation that is currently getting major mins is Austin river the guy who owns the streets of Orlando. Austin one redeeming attribute is hitting that corner three. Mclaughlin is a substantially better player and I definitely don't want them both out there at the same time. Incorporating NAW needs to be a priority as well we need him to replicate 70 percent of what Kyle Anderson is doing for us. If NAW can be the swiss army knife and hold the fort with Anderson on the bench it should prove to be a bit of a steal.
PLAYOFF OUTLOOK
Looking a bit forward to the playoffs I'd would want to see an 8 man rotation with Ant, Kat, Gobert, Conley, McDaniels as the starting five Anderson six man rounding out the rotation with Naz Reid, and Prince. In my opinion this 8 man rotation is a nice blend of shooting passing and defense.
Short analysis guys. Its my first time doing this upvote if you guys like this type of content and want me to do it again.
