Human resistance lead to the destruction of both Earth and Trisolaris

How were the Trisolarans the bad guys if their plan was to preserve humanity and earth? Our first communication with Trisolaris was with a Trisolaran who wanted to save humanity. Instead humanity is somehow good though its reckless, suicidal, deceptive, selfish actions lead to the destruction of both solar systems and the countless billions of organisms inhabiting both. When the invasion became pointless, the Trisolarans helped humanity, despite the great harm we caused them.
