Which of the new thinkpads have the best battery life on linux?
Basically the title. I am in the market for a new thinkpad. The details about my use case is stated below.
I mostly use my laptop plugged in, whether I am at home or at the office. However, about once a month (on average), I go for conferences and I would like to avoid fighting with 5 other people to access the outlet. My useage looks like this:
- Plugged in, I use Firefox, Obsidian, Docker, VSCode, messaging apps (thunderbird, Slack, Mattermost, etc).
- During conferences, I will mostly use Obsidian (for note taking), Firefox, and messaging apps.
Ideally, I would prefer that the battery lasts for the whole duration of the conference (~8-10 hours) with the above mentioned load. Since I don't do any graphics intensive task (or gaming), I do not need a dGPU. I used to use a Z16 (gen 1) but the battery did not last for over 5 hours in Fedora.
So are there any recent thinkpads with > 8 hours battery life on medium-to-low load? People praise the recent AMD thinkpads for good battery life. Will a P14s be good enough for my use case?
Thanks for reading.
