New iPhone left untouched since December

This is a problem entirely of my own making. Basically I just want to know how screwed I am for getting a new iPhone around christmas and still not having opened it. Ive had a lot of things going on and have been procrastination switching over because my storage is full right now and I’d need to go on a purge.

I’ve been told it’s bad for the battery to let it sit around and I wanted some “professional” opinions on what to do. Is the phone going to be totally fucked? Is there anything I can do when starting it up that will help it be less fucked? Can I take it into apple and be like “help it’s defective 🥺” and get a new one lmfao? It’s the newest iPhone if that makes any difference.
