Books on Chicago - if any?

Hi, looking for some interesting book on everyday life in Chicago, not a social study.

Maybe fiction story of everyday hardlife in ghettos or poor neighborhoods, never was in U.S. and never read a book on such topic and very courious.

I'm big fan of Bulls and have almost every book on topic and many autobiographies of NBA players.

Was thinking to try if there fe exist a book about someone from very poor family raised into a rich or famous personality, be it businessman, sportsman, gangster, musician or artist
