Did they remove unlimited continues?

I haven't played the game for a few weeks and picked it back up today for a bit.

Have they removed unlimited continues? I swear if I remember correctly, before you could watch as many ads in a single run as you wanted in order to continue. Now after about 10 continues via ads, they only give you the option to continue a run via spending keys.

Was this something they recently added or am I just remembering the game wrong?
