Back after leaving in set 1. What should I buy?

Hey all,

Long story short, I sold out of the game after the set 1 store showdown as prices were getting ridiculous and I didn't feel like cashing in retirement to play a card game. I'm looking at coming back just as a casual and having one or two decks to play maybe once a month at a local game store.

Just curious what would be my best bet to buy. I still have most of a set 1 playset of commons and uncommons and a few rares, but nothing crazy as well as the set 1 starter.

I was eyeing up the latest set and have been on karabast to get a feel for what I like and don't like and was thinking about buying a couple booster boxes.

First thought was that Set 2 seems to have a greater expected value over set 3, but not sure if it's already reflected in the price or not.

Currently I can get either set 2 booster boxes for $125 CAD or set 1 boxes for $99 CAD.

Even thought set 3 boxes are cheaper, not sure if there's more meta defining cards in set 2 to make it a better option or not. Also, I can get a c/uc playset of either set2 or 3 from a friend for cheap, so not an issue on that front. Also, we're the set 2 and 3 starters worth getting? Or just stick with weekly play boosters for the exclusives? I don't see myself playing any of those leaders.

Probably the decks I'll gravitate towards are villain control blue/green/red

Villain tempo red/yellow/green

Maybe some kind of mono red or red/green villain aggro

Not sure Heroes fit my playstyle.

Update: found a solid deal on the Canada trade group for 3 boxes of twighlight for $90 CAD each.
