Starbucks Really Wants to Nickel-and-Dime Customers, I Guess

So I’ve been ordering a Grande Caramel Brulée (my go-to holiday drink) for years, and I always ask for it in a Venti cup—not for extra drink, just to avoid spills when I’m driving. Never had an issue, until today.

The manager calls me over to the pickup area (in front of a dozen other customers) and says, “I’m making an exception for you this time, but next time we’re charging you for upsizing.” I was honestly stunned. I calmly explained, “I’m not asking for more—just a bigger cup so it doesn’t spill when you top it off.” Her response? “Sorry, the CEO has a new policy. Any change to any part of a menu item will have an additional charge going forward. You’ll see more communication about it soon.”

Like… really? I’m not asking for free syrup, whipped cream, or an extra shot—just a bigger cup to avoid a mess. Starbucks already charges a premium for their drinks, and now they’re squeezing customers even more for something this basic?

If this is the direction the new CEO is taking, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be sticking around. Starbucks, get it together—you’re better than this (or at least you used to be)….
