WH-1000XM4 wont enter pairing mode or connect, what can i do ?

i have "Wireless Noise Cancelling Stereo Headset WH-1000XM4." they arent earbuds, just headphones. i got them for christmas and i was hyped to try them out, but they refuse to enter pairing mode. they wont show up on my bluetooth list or the sony app's bluetooth list. the NFC connect just says "couldnt pair" no matter how much i try, and holding the power button and the custom button doesnt even reset/initialize it while off. tried while on as well and it just did nothing. holding the power buttons 7 seconds didnt work. holding it indefinitely just turned them off eventually. it says when its on, it says when its off, and its custom noise settings DO work. it just will not go into pairing mode no matter what the internet tells me to do, and the internet doesnt say much.

is there anything i can do to get them working ?
