To anyone who comments "Mine works flawlessly..."

Welp. Here is my plea to r/sonos to be empathetic to the incoming wave of post-holiday, new sonos owners and their troubleshooting posts/rants coming in.

To anyone who leaves a "Mine works flawlessly" comment to a user post facing an issue or multiple issues with their Sonos, (or downvotes it,) I say this:

It. Doesn't. Help.

  1. It doesn't help the user.

It doesn't create a discussion, community-assisted unofficial but legit troubleshooting approach that may end with a solution that may help someone down the road.

It doesn't help raise awareness of a potential issue, or arguably dispell of it thoroughly.

These posts by frustrated users are not to get a show of hands to see if a website is down worldwide. I believe they hold a different hope for a response.

"Mine works flawlessly" ain't it.

  1. If issues have yet to happen to you, it may still.

Being able to install all sonos speakers the first time without issue doesn't mean you won't have issues in the coming months.

I believe there is a common misconception in people thinking they just have the "right setup", are having a "rock solid" experience because they diligently read support documentation and if ever needed would certainly call tech support to get their matter solved (And people upset are just the loud reddit minority yada yada).

I hope you don't face issues. But you may, and here's some anecdotal yet worthwhile reasons why I think so.

Source: Me. Had Sonos since the OG PLAY 5, have Sonos in multiple locations, and with different use cases (music and home theater)

I was quintessential "this guy networks," and in one location am fully hardwired all the way, and psyched to be all "not my problem newb" - in other words I was Mr. "rock solid."

And then "it happened", sometime around July, Sonos started performing intermittently, inconsistently - I was a bit less rock solid, more like drank too much whiskey "1/2 chub" kind of solid.

But hey! Some time later it was back, 3.5/4 rock solid..... until it wasn't. Off and on again through many holidays, days off, chill times unsure what to expect. Right now it is not functioning well, consistently, and with newfound issues I did not face before. This is what inspired me to write today and concerns me the most.

Source 2: Professional Sonos installers and resellers. Search "sonos installer" in this subreddit, they provide great insight on the "voice of the customer" - they aren't seeking internet karma like me, they literally just want to sell sonos with confidence to paying customers and can't any longer. If any of you pros out read this, please come chime in with a reply/thoughts.

Source 2: Other r/sonos users, just do a search "it happened" within the r/sonos subreddit - all expressing similar sentiment and journey.

For those who just joined Sonos - it was a great product. At this moment, it is a bit risky, we all hope it returns to form - but really kick the tires of your purchase in the month ahead. You paid a lot of money, you should deserve the best.

prepares to be downvoted to oblivion - tell my sonos net I loved her so.

With Sympathy, and a better Sonos Year to all
