New homeowner with previously installed solar on home. I have a few questions.

My wife and I recently purchased a home with solar installed. From the docs we were given from the previous owners, it was self-installed by the previous owner. It was recently installed, final permit was issued on 11/20/2020. Unfortunately, they never received permission to operate (in Riverside county - Southern Cal Edison), so we had to go through that process ourselves and that is now taken care of. We have the PTO now. However, the system has been on already, so I'm fairly certain it's all working correctly.

I have several questions, that I'm hoping someone can help with, as I don't have much knowledge on this - but have learned a ton just in the past few weeks trying to research.

The system is 4.8KW and has an HD Wave Solar Edge inverter.

Now that we have permission to operate, I tried to connect to the Solar Edge app and it wouldn't read the Serial Number. When I contacted Solar Edge I was told that they did not have any record of that s/n in their system so I would need to have the "installer" grant me access and register the s/n. Unfortunately, there is not an installer to contact about this since it was installed by the previous owner. So they sent me a link to preferred installers in my area. I've reached out to a few, two of them told me that they do not do any work on systems that they didn't install. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of others.

Do I even need to connect my inverter with Solar Edge for monitoring? Or can I use a different monitoring system, like Sense or others?
