Why does Athletic Madrid have only 7 stars on their badge?

Hi, American here, and getting into soccer. So I was checking out the La Liga team badges to find out which team I was going to support and the Athletic Madrid one caught my eye because it is a clear reference to the wonderful USA of America 😎 (see the white/red stripes and the blue with the stars).

I found it simply beautiful and TBH a tear rolled down my cheek. But then I saw it. It only has 7 stars?!?! Wtf are you thinking Athletic? Do they not realize that the US has 50 BEAUTIFUL STATES?!? Honestly they should review this FLAGRANT mistake. I’m now considering joining Real Madrid instead. I’m not even angry, just hurt, and disappointed.
