Trying to understand edging

Snowboarder trying to understand the technicals of skiing. I’ve had some instruction from my (level 1 APSI) boyfriend but it’s been awhile since he’s studied from the book.

The main thing I noticed is I still have more weight on my back foot (scared of speed, and I know I should be pushing my shins into my boot more but it’s scary!). I’ve tried the exercise of holding poles horizontally (on palms) and out front to try and get weight forward but feel like I do it wrong (elbows bent too close to chest?).

Getting into parallel turns - sometimes it turns out nice - other times they are stem christies. How do I get out of the stem christies? I have always aimed to finish my turns parallel and going across the mountain. I’m not yet comfortable with opening my turns. If I open my turns I can’t imagine how they wouldn’t be “Z” instead of “C” turns.

Finally when I go into parallel, I find myself closing the turn with more weight/edging on the outside ski and the inside ski is just the follower. Is this normal? Should I be aiming to be putting even weight (or at least some weight) on the inside ski edge as well? I feel uncomfortable doing this. I see some ski instructors do a drill where they only turn with one ski (lifting up the other foot). If I do this, which foot should I be lifting? I’m assuming lift the inside ski because that’s how I’ve been riding anyway. If I should be putting even weight on the inside ski, can anyone share a drill I can try to fix this?
