Youths claiming to be just out of prison and selling origami door to door?

Wonder if any of you have recently encountered this? A teen or young adult shows up outside your house and claims to be fresh out of prison. Asks for money in exchange for origami (Had a huge bag with him containing random folded paper - didn't seem origami-like tbh) Being generally skeptical of such individuals who show up at my door, I told him i'm not keen, but he asked for a packet of biscuits in exchange for the origami, which I gave him thinking he might be hungry. Told him I didn't need the origami. He thanked me and left. I found it to be a slightly odd encounter, so was curious if this might've happened to one of you. I've been in situations where individuals claiming to be out of prison have shown up selling random items at somewhat ridiculous prices, but I usually turn them away.
