Mccc household number won’t work

So when I change the maximum amount of sims can be in my household it never works like I put 10 maximum but everytime I come back on one of my sims disappear like they’re just like deleted so I can’t add more than 8 even tho I put 10. Does anyone know how to fix it or what the problem is?
