How are you able to keep going?

This is an invite to a discussion. I would like to see different takes from those who used to hope their hobby will turn out to be profitable someday, or that they'll create an engaged audience, or find a real (not a scam) publisher to work with, etc, but they managed to overcome these unrealistic or straight up toxic expectations, for the sake of being able to create what they love. In short - how are you able to accept that your hobby will stay as a hobby? How do you "let go"?
