I have musical hallucinations
So I'm 35f.
I have musical hallucinations. It's not all that often and started during covid. I have not had covid.
I had some form of auditory hallucinations when I was younger. When I was a child it was talking, again sporadic and not specific words really apart from my name. Never malicious, never specifically at me and never really clear enough. Reduced as time went on and eventually stopped.
Now I'm 35 and they started about 5 years ago. This time it's music, well usually. Sometimes it's radio conversation. But again never that clear. Like hearing music on a radio through the wall in the apartment next to you. You can hear tone and melody and get a gist of what the instrument is but it's never a song I've heard before and repeats in a loop. Especially when I try and listen out for it, it'll almost loop and replay back but I can never predict it no matter how many times I try, my brain can't retain the melody. It's really hard to explain. Like eating an apple in a dream.
At first I thought it was a radio but after several times of it happening when there's literally no means to it. I even tried to get my husband to listen for it. The music will never decrease in volume dependent on my walking around. It's always consistently the same volume regardless of where I am. It happens more when I'm stressed.
It's actually rather nice. When I was a teenager or kid I always wondered what people heard or saw when they hallucinated and how scary they might be.
Luckily mine is not. It's actually rather pleasant. What a wonderful way for my brain to de-stress it's own self. Playing itself it's own music.
