Where's the most money in this sector at?

By state with the cost of living taken into account is part of the question, but I'm most curious as to what industry pays the most for their security. I know executive protection is touted as the top tier of the pay scale but I'm not sure if that is the reality. I know EP makes great money, sometimes. But I'm sure there are people making great money in other parts of this field that don't do EP.

I do armed security for a private school. Make shit money but appreciate the work and purpose. Have an EP cert but haven't actively been looking for EP work. Curious to get more insight into where the money is at in our sector outside of EP and how people have made an actual career with a good work life balance.
