Absolution by Jeff Vandermeer part three???
Has anybody else read the new Southern Reach novel by Vandermeer? What the hell happened between part two and three that led to the choice to absolutely tank the writing style? In the space of about ten pages this went from "one of the most beautiful books I've read in a few months" to "wow this is almost unreadable". Is there a pay-off? Do I DNF it? Do I power through? Is there an actual reason for the weird three-fucks-per-paragraph inner monologue and switch to a super unlikeable POV? All his other stuff (bar hummingbird salamander) has been a 4-5 star read for me, do I trust that he has a master plan and it'll all work out by the end? Struggling to find motivation to continue... Is this an unpopular opinion? Was there anybody that liked the way part three was written? Given how amazing both part one and two were I'm just sitting here on a Sunday afternoon feeling absolutely betrayed! 😞
