Coming back after 10 years. Wondering if I will have enough to succeed.
I moved to San Diego in January of 2016 and lived here for half a year. I was young at the time (21) and came here with zero money and no job at the time and only lasted about 6 months due to mooching off of people I knew from an online video game I had played prior.
Fast forward 9 years later and I am finally in what I would call a "Decent" position in life where I want to finally go back to San Diego as I absolutely loved it when I lived there and it is a city that aligns with what I love doing.
I would be coming back with the same employer that I currently have (my salary would go up to about $80,000 a year) with about $15,000 in savings and zero debt with a fully paid of 2015 Mazda 3 vehicle.
My idea is that I would find a room on Facebook marketplace for about $1,000 - $1,400 per month for about the first year. I would going back to Chula Vista.
Do you think this would be enough for me to successfully be in a decent spot when coming back? Also any advice or good spots or just anything in general to make my plan succeed as much as possible would be great. I would be returning January 1st 2026. It would mark the 10 year mark of when I originally came to SD.
Edit: I might wait another year or two. Appreciate all the feedback.
Thank you.
