Why do people choose the Ultra over the Plus?
I have an S22+ and over the last year my battery has started to decline, the phone is noticeably slower and I don't have enough memory. So for the last few months I have been waiting for the S25 series to be released.
I was going to get the Ultra but after watching a good few Top 10 videos for the use of the pen, they seem to focus using it for.
- Signing documents
- Making gifs
- Creating notes when the screen is locked
- Being able to magnify text on apps that you can't use your fingers to zoom in
- Samsung Notes
- Go back and forward on Spotify
- The better camera zoom on the Ultra
This is all a bit underwhelming from what I can see and makes me think of just going for the 256GB model. Even at that, maybe just wait for the S24+ to decrease in a few weeks post the S25 launch next week and buy that.
The main things I use my phone is for:
- Calls, video, text, WhatsApp, messenger
- Insta, reddit, fb
- To manage my investment accounts when away from desk (if needed but I prefer not to)
- Watching/streaming live sports and Netflix when travelling
- I travel a good bit so camera is important. My fiancee does has a Sony alpha 7 III for vacations that we use
- Buying some stuff online
- General apps, flying, travelling, bank, sports etc.
- Some games but rarely
I can afford the Ultra and to be honest, if I wasn't buying the Samsung Ultra Watch in the next few days I would potentially consider the new One Plus or Google Pixel. I have an Apple phone for work but the navigation is crap compared to Samsung. I do think the Apple keyboard is better though as I have less mistakes when I type.
Based in the above am I better off just going with the S24+ for the extra memory and better camera or am I missing something from the Ultra?
