Quitting without a job lined up?

Always a bad call regardless of the situation? I’m 4 years into a start-up and really struggling to find the will to live at this point. Feels like I need a radical change and a proper break in order to find something new. I’m based in the UK. I do back myself to find something decent but I know it’s a conversation hiring managers will want to have if I’m unemployed.

Edit- more context is I’ve been pushed into a 360 role this last year and 60-100 calls a day for not a lot of reward is taking its toll. Am I just being a pussy?
