The performance optimization in build 42 HEAVILY outweighs any amount of gameplay jank
For me at least, the game ran like a complete turd in build 41, with and without mods. Id cap out at around 100-120 fps in the least intensive areas of the game with no zombies, corpses, or items on the ground. The game would begin struggling with maybe 50 neighbours, getting increasingly worse until it was a slideshow or crashing when loading hoards larger than ~800
IN BUILD 42, i reach over 300fps while walking around west point on 2x pop. I gathered 2000 neighbours for a barbecue and had them all on screen at once, still achieving a whopping 5-10 fps and no crashing. I have absolutely no desire to go back to build 41 regardless of how buggy or unpolished the unstable build is for this reason alone. Hail to the devs for this bountiful harvest.
EDIT: several people seem to be upset that im “complaining about 100-120 fps.” Allow me to clarify that this is when absolutely nothing is happening onscreen and theres no zombies, items, etc… to render.
During general gameplay i got about 10-20 FPS on average in b41, which to me is unpleasant.
My specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G GPU: GTX 1660 super RAM: 16gb DDR4 3200mhz Motherboard: Asus something I dont remember 2TB hard drive
