Transferring out of state
So my plan for awhile has been to get my associates, then my bachelors, then eventually my doctoral in nursing. I started college freshly at 18 with no idea what I wanted to do and have a decent amount of credits under my belt, as well as being an EMT for the past two years. Well, I’m on course at the current moment to finish my pre reqs by the end of 2025 and start nursing school in Spring 2026.
The issue is my living situation. I had plans to get an apartment with my long term bf and we ended up breaking up on Christmas Eve. And with full time work being difficult if not impossible during nursing school, I don’t really see a way for me to live on my own, even with roommates, during nursing school anymore. So I’ve been living with my mom and stepdad and 3 younger siblings for the last few months, but it’s just not an ideal living situation for a lot of reasons.
I started thinking about moving cross country to where my grandma lives for nursing school, but if I did it would likely require me finishing a few pre reqs there, possibly taking on more pre reqs than I need if I stay put, and maybe even delaying when I can start nursing school. I should also mention that my current job gives me the opportunity to skip the waitlist at my local community college and borderline guarantees I would be accepted exactly when I want to. So I guess my question is—would you give up all that convenience and benefits to leave your living situation?
