Ultrasound tech with zero bedside manner…

My wife and I went in for our first ultrasound for our first pregnancy, super excited to have it become more real and see the heartbeat and get the pic, all that jazz. For context, we started IUI in December and they had us come in for a 6wk ultrasound, it’s been a journey to say the least. My wife is generally higher on the anxiety scale and she is vocal about her apprehension of being a mother, being pregnant, costs of kids, etc etc…

Well having twins has been another point of potential stress, and long story short, ultrasound lady comes in (nurse? Dr? Pa? Idk) we have some light chit chat nothing notable, super welcoming person. Ok stirrups, scoot down, “you’re going to feel a cool sensationOPE YOUVE GOT TWINS!” Like bam right off the bat, no easing into it at all. I had to pause and ask her to be very clear that she wasn’t joking or anything else. Of course not, why would she joke, this isnt a movie script. Immediately my wife starts to react with some heavy breathing and builds into more audible crying. Meanwhile the lady pretty coldly states that she can’t really see anything bc of the crying and bouncing… she then decides to ask if they are happy tears or sad tears… we aren’t sure…

Anyways we haven’t shared anything with family yet and only a few close friends know about the positive test at all, so I had to come and let out some energy into the internet void, to complain that our ultrasound lady could have eased us into it at least a little bit! But at the end of the day we have at least one healthy baby yolk sac with a heartbeat flutter and another one that was hiding a bit from the wand and we’ll have to go back next week for more. thanks for reading - would love to hear any stories of yours or anything related of the sort as well.
