Glucose test isn't that bad
I'm 28 weeks today and just did my glucose test. I saw so many things before hand about how awful the drink is and how sick it makes you feel. My instructions were to fast for 8 whole hours before my test at 8am, which I honestly think is ridiculous because I'm hungry all the time. Not gunna lie, I did have a piece of toast in the morning before going to my appointment because I knew I'd be hangry otherwise. Got there and they informed me that had to draw some blood first. They had to draw 7 vials from because apparently doing some other testing for me as well and needed more samples. I'm thinking OK no problem, because I never have any problems getting my blood drawn. HOWEVER, this time I guess because it was 7 vials, I got light headed very quickly. The nurses put ice on my neck and turned a fan on me, and was able to get it under control before I passed out all the way. All of that to say!!!!.... when I actually started drinking the glucose drink (I got lemon lime), it was an absolute breeze and nothing like it had been talked up to be. I thought it tasted good!! And it didn't make me feel bad at all. They told me to definitely NOT chug the drink, though and just sip it consistently in under 5 minutes. The drink was the best part of the whole experience. And to ease your mind about getting light headed- there was another woman who also got 7 vials drawn while they were cooling me down, and she had no issues at all. So it was just something going on with me this morning.
