Fellow Tally Pro or Acaia Pearl S
Good evening folks,
As I descend deeper into the rabbit hole known as pourover, I find myself in need of a scale. I have a Timemore black mirror basic from around 3 years ago which has an annoying drift issue that I could not fix (the weight decreases randomly by 20-30 g over a short timeframe).
I am kind-of operating under the “buy once, cry once” philosophy here, but I have found that the Acaia Pearl S and the Fellow Tally Pro are the two top contenders.
On one hand I like the Acaia. The scale has data logging, and I like data. I also like that I can somewhat “preload” a recipe using the brew guide mode and follow it. The issue is that it looks cheap, the plastic is said to scratch easily, and some people have said that the smart features are useless.
On the other hand is the Fellow. The tally pro seems to be a logical choice too; it’s a premium responsive and no frills (connectivity-wise) scale. Not much negative points around it. But it lacks flow rate (I’d like to know my pour rate, but this may just be because I’m a newbie) and logging capability of the Acaia.
Those are my two top contenders. I’m open to other advice though!
Thanks!
