How old is too old? Beans
Hello all, I seem to have gone a bit overboard and bought 6 bags (from 100g to 200g) for pourover.
I come from an espresso background, and 4-month old beans (unopened) do little to diminish the taste for me, as I typically like milk-drinks, but with pourover - it’s always as is, no mix-ins, as I enjoy the nuanced taste. Long story short, I bought some beans from September because of FOMO, and I feel like I made a mistake with how much I’ve bought, especially if I decide to open more than one bag.
I feel it will be at least 4-5 months before I get though them.
Any tips? I read that vacuum packing then does little to preserve freshness (due to the oils post-roasting), and the jury is out on freezing (or at least from what I read)
