Renters Advice (heating)

My girlfriend and I live in an apartment in Carnegie, our heating is controlled building wide and we don’t have access to control it.

The heat is on building, but in our unit the baseboard heaters do not get hot enough to heat the apartment. They’re definitely working normally elsewhere in the building, because the hallway with a door that opens up to the outside is a comfortable temperature.

Our landlord/property management group is dragging their feet and not communicating with us on how to fix this. It is 63°f in our apartment and it’s almost unbearable.

We recently had electrical problems with our space heaters where one started to melt into the wall and the other making the outlet make a crackling noise on a separate outlet. So we don’t feel comfortable using space heaters until and electrician or someone comes out to look.

I’m not sure what my options are. It’s almost unbearably cold. Any advice would be appreciated.
