i can't tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz when ingame

I can tell when I look really hard, but other than that there's no difference to me. I don't understand it. I've made sure the display is set to 120 in both the monitor settings and windows, I have a gpu capable of it, and have the most up to date drivers for my card. It seems like it should be an eye-opening experience switching from 60hz to 120hz but it just isn't for me. I feel like I must be doing something wrong. Do any of you experience this? And is there a solution to it?
