the oscar delays and longer voting period with the fires are going to favor american contenders
i think the fact the voting was delayed a second time and the fact that the fires are burning areas of LA where literally 60% of the academy voting members live is going to favor the american prospective nominees. there's going to be a lot of sympathy for and attention on them.
Jamie lee curtis in particular is out in full force donating 1m dollars to the relief, on every talk show and local news interview that will have her, all while voting is extended and this is top of everyone's mind. and no i am not saying she is doing this to get a nomination, but i think in general the nominees will end up being more heavily "los angeles" than they might have been.
anyone else thought of this? or do you think it will all have a negligible effect?
