I was assaulted today

I was walking to the bus stop. This guy who walked past turned around and came up to me. He wouldn't stop yelling that I won't leave him alone. I couldn't cross the street because none of the cross lights would turn.

He threw beer at me. He spit on me multiple times. I walked to a nearby restaurant to get away. He kept following me, yelling at me, and talking about his baby's mom. He hit me with a belt. Once he did, then he left.

I talked to police and agreed to press charges, but i don't know realistically the chances are that anything will come out of it.

I think there's still blood on my face, but i don't want to look in the mirror. There's blood on the mop that I used to help my friend clean. I smell like beer.

I don't know what I was supposed to do. A complete stranger assaulted me and I feel like nothing will happen.
