This subreddit is turning me away from this profession. Not sure what to do
Here’s my story: I (28f) already have a degree in marketing. Worked corporate for a little bit but honestly wasn’t getting the best jobs and was starting to feel a void within the work itself. Felt meaningless.
I’ve always been keen towards medicine and science since high school. The human body is fascinating! And I loved the versatility behind nursing but recently had a conversation with a travel nurse who stated how the profession only has lateral movement, no progression upwards without more education. More education is very hard to get for me because I have to work during school.
I’ve finished all my pre reqs and I’ve been gearing up to apply for nursing school. But almost every time I’m on reddit, I see posts from this community and it just sounds… terrible. Everyone is just complaining all the time and it’s planted a deep seed of fear within me. Now I’m not sure if it’s worth going down this path. I feel very lost and not sure what to do now.
Does anyone have any words of encouragement? Are there other options I should consider so my pre reqs aren’t completely wasted?
