Questions about going to a concert at Jiffy Lube Live
I'm going to see Fall Out Boy at Jiffy Lube Live and it'll be my first time to the venue. If the show starts at 6:30, is it a bad idea to show up late? I don't care about missing any of the opening acts (there are 3) and trying to minimize my time away from home if possible. I'm trying to factor in traffic and parking. I live about an hour to an hour and a half away in Maryland.
I've heard that most concerts end at this venue around 11, so I figure if I show up around 8, I won't miss the show. Does anyone have experience with this?
EDIT: Thanks everyone for responding. Update in case this is relevant for someone later on -- we got about a mile out to the venue around 8:15PM and the road was already backed up. We sat at a traffic light for 3 cycles and didn't move at all, so we decided to pull off to the side and parked by some business/office buildings and walked. It was about a 10-`15 minute walk to reach the venue, then another 10-15 minutes inside to go find our seats. There was no line to actually get into the venue.
Our butts were in our seats around 8:50, Fall Out Boy came on around 9:10, awesome show. Then we left early (missed the last song? the last 2 songs?), around 10:53, there were people already starting to leave. I think there is a hard curfew here at 11. Walked/jogged back to the car and got out into the road, which was pretty empty.
There was an unusual condition though, they were doing some night road work. We got stuck in traffic on 66 a few times actually, because the roads had closed from 4-6 lanes to like 1-2 lanes in multiple spots. I can't imagine how bad the line would've gotten behind us because IMO we got ahead of most (probably 90%) of people.
I think my takeaway is for getting there - just park and walk, unless you actively enjoy sitting in the car. It took us 20-30 minutes to get from our cars to our seats. If you insisted on parking there, I think it would've taken double that time at least. For leaving - leave early unless you're willing to sacrifice multiple hours of your time to hear the last songs.
Hope this helps someone! The logistics of getting to and leaving this venue are so inefficient, ya'll are right.
