The shine is off

I've been a huge NK fan since I was 12...and now I'm 47.

I've been fortunate to attend all of their tours - old school and reunited. I've also gone to solo shows and even made it to NYC to see Joe in Waitress.

I have dress made out of those 90s bedsheets I bought of Etsy and wore it to my high school reunion and every concert since I acquired it.

I adore them.

But the shine is starting to dull. Donnie's socials feel like a blatant seeding of a parasocial relationship with fans to keep them on the hook so they dole out $$$ next tour. Danny's lately have felt over-the-top mushy towards fans that it doesn't feel sincere. And Joe seemed bummed out this tour. (Which is totally fair - I just hate to think he was pressured to keep up the feed for promotion.)

And the fans. We met a cool sister duo at the last concert and hung with them. But most around us carried on like sex starved maniacs who lost all sense of rationality.

This used to be fun for me.

But it's starting to turn into an ick. I can't quite place my finger on it.

So I decided to unfollow the guys on social media. I left the NKOTB FB groups. I'm going to take a break and see if I just oversaturated myself in the online drama (not here...love this group...some great posts have been made here!)

Hopefully this helps and next tour I'll feel refreshed and happy to be a NK fan again.
