Is the Sixers future bleak?

During the off-season, many people praised the moves that the Sixers made, and felt that the Sixers would be the main competition for the Celtics in the East. Embiid would finally have a star 2-way wing to play alongside him with Paul George, Maxey would theoretically grow more as a guard and improve his distributing skills, and the Sixers signed some role-players who were seen as solid.

But things have not been going well for the Sixers. They currently sit at a 15-23 record, Embiid has missed a ton of games due to injury, PG13 doesn't seem to be the same player that he once was, and it Maxey appears to have taken a step back in his game. Minus a few bright spots, such as Jared McCain before he got injured and Yabusele, the Sixers role-players as a whole have been atrocious, especially the veteran players. None of them are really pure shooters and they are average at best on defense. Most of them are also quite old, which means they wouldn't get much of a return from them in a trade.

To make matters worse: the Sixers gave Embiid a massive extension and signed PG-13 to a massive contract. This means that it will be very difficult to move either one of them if they ever decide to trade them away to recoup some assets. Finally, depending on where they finish in the draft order, the Thunder may end up with the Sixers first round pick in this years draft.

So with how things are going, would you say that the Sixers future in bleak?
