Reasonable weekly strength progress on bulk? When do you start thinking you’ve plateaued on a lift?

After wasting my time "gaintaining" for like a year, want to see some numbers go up and start a proper bulk.

After being used to lift's staying the same (maybe one rep added per 3-4 weeks) for a year, I want to get an assessment of what the rate of progress should be if you're actually in a surplus. Personally I know I will get worried if I'm in a surplus and I don't improve as I will worry I've gained body weight (ie fat) with no muscle gain. However I know it's unreasonable to see strength progress every single session.

How often do you expect to add reps or weight to a lift on a bulk? How many sessions in a row with no improvement whilst gaining body weight do you tolerate before reassessing?

Just trying to set some realistic expectations here. Thanks guys
