Aspiring Cinematographer in Mumbai. Need Guidance.

I moved to Mumbai a year ago joining Film School (XIC) and I am almost finishing my course. I am a aspiring cinematographer and I want to know if anyone here has any knowledge as to what I should be doing next. I have been a professional photographer for about 2 years and I have worked on sets also, but not in Mumbai. I have had alot of experience with Video Editing and I have a fair amount of knowledge with DI as well. I have shot 2-3 student films as well.

My current plan is to - A) Try to connect with cinematographers on Instagram/ Real Life and assist them for 1-3 years. B) In the meantime, I need to pay my rent and start working so if I don't get a cinematography related assistant job, I was thinking of getting a video editor or Assistant Director job in a production house.

Do you think I'm doing the right things or am I missing something? My dream is to become a DOP in mumbai.

Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated.
